Murugappa subsidiary ‘TI Clean Mobility’ launches Montra Electric three-wheeler
A subsidiary of Tube Investments of India (TII), TI Clean Mobility (TCM), a Murugappa Group company, entered the EV market by the launch of Montra Electric three-wheeler Auto in Chennai on 06.09.2022.
The launch is part of the group’s plan of the group for focus desperately by introducing electric 3-wheeler products under the brand Montra Electric, electric tractors under the Celestial Egat brand & electric heavy commercial vehicles through the Rhino 5536.
The company confirmed products in each of those categories shall be launched within the coming half year. TCM Managing Director K K Paul confirmed there will be 3 manufacturing facilities for all of these segments 1 in Ambattur for Montra Electric, the other on the Chennai-Bengaluru highway for Celestial & 1 in Delhi-NCR for Rhino 5536.
The firm announced last month that it will be investing about Rs one thousand crores to create at least 4 platforms in the Electric Vehicle market. The price of the Montra electric three-wheeler range will start at Rs 3,02,000, ex-showroom post-subsidy. Three-wheeler vehicles will be available in over a hundred dealerships across India. TII has a share of about 25% in the country’s cycle market & makes iconic brands such as BSA & Hercules.
The company confirmed that they have invested the best resources & time to develop this product; with Montra EV, they are striving to attain carbon neutrality.
