NCR announces action plan for Electric Vehicle charging points infrastructure.
The government of Delhi has announced an action plan on 22.08.2022 for setting up charging & battery swapping infrastructure for electric vehicles for supporting a transition for cleaner means of mobility in the national capital, which is infamous for its poor quality of air.
The Delhi government is planning to target for installation of eighteen thousand public & semi-public Electric Vehicle charging points & battery swapping stations by the next coming 2 years.
By this, the NCR government said that it aims to provide one charging point for every fifteen electric vehicles sold. Main target is based on the assumption that 25 percent of all new vehicles sold in the next two years will be electric.
They assured that the action plan will be in conjunction with the Delhi Electric Vehicle policy launched 2 years back in August which provides capital incentives to set up charging infrastructure.
“The action plan for deployment of Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure is a statement of intent & the approach to be followed by the Government of NCT of Delhi over the coming 3 years to confirm that the pace of installing charging & swapping stations compliments the pace of EV adoption in the city,” state transport minister Kailash Gahlot confirmed this.
He also continued that, we are committed to ensure that every resident of Delhi is confident about affordable access to charging and swapping facilities, and no EV user in Delhi suffers from the proverbial range anxiety.
