Ola Electric plans for hiring 3K to focus on non-software engineering domains
In a reorganisation effort, Ola Electric is eliminating two hundred jobs, the most of which are in software development roles, while planning to hire about 3,000 to concentrate on areas outside of software engineering.
The business, which sells electric scooters, stated that it has been concentrating more on non-software engineering domains with “a clear focus on building engineering and R&D skills across – vehicle, cell, manufacturing and automation, autonomous engineering streams, and others.”
Ola Electric announced that it is concentrating on being a vertically integrated mobility firm and has plans to introduce its first electric vehicle in 2024.
Ola is strengthening its play in the 2Ws (two-wheelers), 4Ws (four-wheelers), cell R&D, and manufacturing, the firm said in a statement, “Building on common skills and synergies across operations.”
In light of these initiatives, the corporation is centralising operations and reorganising in order to reduce redundancies and create a strong lateral structure that reinforces pertinent roles and tasks.
Around 2,000 engineers will be impacted, or 10% of the workforce.
The engineering talent pool at Ola Electric, however, will grow to 5,000 over the course of the next 18 months from its current level of roughly 2,000 engineers.
